THEORY: Patterns of transmission of single gene traits, Pedigree analysis with criteria for identification of various mode of inheritance, Genetic defects in prenatal development: Normal chromosome picture, Structural and numerical abnormalities in autosome and sex chromosome, Congenital malformations, Metabolic variation and diseases, Inborn errors in amino acids, Carbohydrate, Lipids and Nucleic acid metabolism. Error in transport system, Inherited variations. Genetic linkage: Family methods, Somatic cell hybridization, deletion mapping and duplication mapping, Genetic counseling.
PRACTICAL: Study of different qualitative and quantitative traits, Pedigree analysis, Analysis of sex chromosomes in Interphase nuclei, Karyotyping of normal and abnormal chromosomes, Screening of metabolic and other disorders, Dermatoglyphics of normal mentally retarded individuals, Problem solving on genetic counseling
