Department Vision |
Media and Communication Studies is the most prestigious and advanced department. Therefore, different programs have been designed to foster dialogue about societal issues and their solutions. The vision of the programs is to stimulate scholarly discussions about communication resources and channels, creating a liaison between academia and industry through state research and development facilities. The programs aim to stay abreast of the new emerging technologies and their relation to societies while developing new working models for media & communication for transmuting media ecology.
Media and Communication Studies offers researchers the opportunity to understand, explore, and interpret the prevalent discourse, henceforth developing narratives that will contribute in shaping opinions. Furthermore, through evaluation and understanding of complex world structures in the realm of communication & information, the scholars will develop an understanding of intertwining structures of information, hegemony, and cultural products. The programs will enable students to develop an understanding of power of information; that is democratic capacities of communication technologies in the hands of the consumer. |
Department Mission |
The mission of the department is to nurture students into becoming high level experts. By the convergence of intellectual academic epicenters and professional environments, Department of Communication and Media Research (DCMR) aims to create a nursery of emerging researchers who will take an active role in setting narratives and shaping opinions. Our focus is to build the capacity of the future media managers and scholars by instilling within them constructive, ethical and objective values. Through the lens of innovation and novelty DCMR aspires to imbue students with not only clarity of concepts but also with the ability to implement theoretical knowledge in their professional practices. We aim to foster new ways of thinking towards objective and subjective epistemologies, practical and commercial application of methodologies, constructing and deconstructing ideas, hence carving new opportunities through academia field alliance. |
