The Department of Early Childhood Education has been functioning since 2004, under the umbrella of Institute of Education and Research. This department provides specialized education and training for those interested in young children’s education and development from birth to eight years of age. It offers two years MA in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and other academic and professional programs. These programs are focused on the early childhood education within broader social, historical, political, and cultural contexts and issues pertaining to curriculum, teaching, and learning in early childhood education. Our students are prepared to engage in the real world, learning how to skillfully address critical issues in early education through pedagogical, political, psychological, and sociological perspectives. Prioritizing theory in practice, students in the Early Childhood Education program also participate in field experience (student teaching), which serves as the foundation from which to theorize about development, learning, and curriculum. By bringing together coursework and field experience graduates are well-prepared to begin and continue to develop their professional identity and practice in research-informed ways.
